The problem with anthology films is that there are almost always weak segments. Black Sabbath is one of the few exceptions I can think of but that one's only got three segments. This is an anthology film with six segments, each dealing with revenge, people being pushed beyond their limits, and the fragility of civility. There is not a weak one here. They are all dark, unpredictable, subversive, angry, uncomfortable, and hilarious. The main problem for me, and this is an entirely subjective thing, is that I liked each segment a little less than the preceding one for the most part. The first three are easily the best, tightest, and consistently funny while the last three feel just a little bit longer than necessary and the stretches between laughs are extended. That said, every single segment is beautifully photographed and Szifrón nails the punchline every time. It's also just crazily entertaining and is one of the best times I've had at the movies this year.
