About this movie

It ran on electricity, produced no emissions, and was among the fastest, most efficient production cars ever built. So why did General Motors crush its fleet of EV1 electric vehicles in the Arizona desert? Launched by GM in 1996 in response to California's pollution crisis and resulting Zero Emission Vehicle mandate, the EV1 electric vehicle was a revolutionary modern car, requiring no gas, no oil changes and no muffler. But the fanfare surrounding the EV1's launch disappeared and the cars followed. Was it lack of consumer demand, as carmakers claimed, or were other forces at work? Those questions and more are answered in this compelling documentary that shines a light into the dark corners of the U.S. economy and government. 2006 EV Confidential LLC. All Rights Reserved.

You have to understand firstly why the electric car was even created. It was created because of the spike in exhaust emissions created from every car in the world that had the ability to crank up and drink gas. I myself absolutely love muscle cars and supercars that tear up the road, while at the same time going through our limited fuel supply and making the average temperature of Earth go up, but we have to understand how important electric cars are today. The Earth is getting hotter, ice is melting, our fuel supply is draining at a constant and slow rate. In the future, probably while I'm still alive, pump gas will be no longer available, and the world will have to rely fully on electric power to meet their needs. By the way, the electric car can be immensely powerful. Take a look at the Tesla cars, you will be blown away by what they can do on electricity alone. Please don't mistake me for being an environmental extremist or anything, because I'm not. I'm only stating the facts of the situation today in the world of pollution and gas usage. You don't have to like electric cars (because I don't), but just realize that every Prius you see on the road is helping to nurse the Earth's climate back to stable conditions. Long live horsepower and muscle!

People should be able to watch this documentary for FREE! Its too bad that "big businesses" like google are too greedy to select a few programs/movies every every month like this one and provide it FREE to there customers/users. $20+ to view a season of a free Over The Air network tv series episodes is equal to being robbed/heldup! And its NOT a dvd that u physically buy, take home to keep & view again & again as much as u like. This is why our society is slowly destroying itself. People just don't THINK!

These types of documentaries should be shown to politicians as well as in schools. Things are changing in the issue of electric cars nowadays... Mostly because of gas prices, but this movie can help eliminate various stigmas on electric cars so they become more marketable.
