What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

I'll just say I kind of cringed with the piano/singing thing. Again maybe it's just an American sort of thing and I don't get it, being a crusty British as I might be.. it is an American TV series so I can forgive it in any case. The meat of the doc is quite good, especially the writers room segment so it's good. Looking forward to the Voyager doc - that was my first Trek love so that will be special. Hopefully coming 🙏 end of 2022

Worthwhile for serious fans though it is a bit uneven and choppy. The Writers Room is compelling, watching all that talent at work breaking an imaginary future episode. But overall it cuts too often between cast, crew, fans, and clips without regard for any pacing or continuity. Good material that could have been presented in a more consistent narrative.

This film is a wonderful look back at what is (in my opinion) the best of the Star Trek franchise. The chemistry of the cast is still evident and it leaves you wanting more from the documentary and more from the show. It's like revisiting old friends years later and picking up right where you left off... Amazing how well the show has held up after all this time. I think it's time to rewatch DS9 again.
