About this movie

“We Are Your Friends” is about what it takes to find your voice. Set in the world of electronic music and Hollywood nightlife, an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole (Efron) spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire. All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James (Bentley), who takes him under his wing. Things get complicated, however, when Cole starts falling for James’ much younger girlfriend, Sophie (Ratajkowski). With Cole’s forbidden relationship intensifying and his friendships unraveling, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he is destined for.

I am in my mid to late 30s grew up in the EDM World and have to admit that this was a great film aside from that, I am a film maker by trade. I don't understand why this movie is getting such hate. It is actually a great story about growing up! One of the better heartfelt films. True the film touches on certain clichés but what movie doesn't. I was never a huge fan of Zac Efron. I think the title 17 again with Matthew Perry as his adult version ruined it for me personally, but I noticed for years rotten 🍅 has been pretty rotten them selves. Give this film a second chance if you like a truly fun, romantic drama about growing up in LA. I used to live in the valley personally so I can relate to the scene, lifestyle and parties. This is alot more real than you can expect. I personally think this was a great film that explores the challenges of many Yonge people and roles in today's society. Personally I give it an 8/10

Almost shed a tear literally because it reminded me of my edm raging days. I still love all types of edm and music in general. Instantly a favorite/classic/hit for me. If music can get you movin', get you feelin' take you on a journey, its good. This is what music is about, and I movie portrays that with one of the biggest and fastest growing genres of music and culture of all time. Fantastic!
