About this movie

What would your life look like without you in it? Outwardly, Howard Wakefield (Bryan Cranston) is the picture of success. He has a loving wife (Jennifer Garner) and two daughters, a prestigious job as a Manhattan lawyer, and a comfortable home in the suburbs. Inwardly, though, he's suffocating. One day, something snaps and Howard goes into hiding in his garage attic. Leaving his family to wonder what happened to him, he observes them from the attic window—an outsider spying in on his own life. As the days of self-imposed isolation stretch into months, Howard begins to wonder: is it even possible to go back to the way things were? Driven by a tour de force, darkly comic performance from Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston, Wakefield is a provocative look at what it means to walk away from it all.

I enjoyed this movie. I'm sure it's not for everyone. It's a study. It is a balance to so many fast paced action entertainment movies. I'll watch Brian Cranston's work, simply to watch him act. Wakefield is a mellow "what if" that many men and women fantasize - what would life be like if I just stepped away? I think one could enjoy this film even if not having the experience or fallen to the state of self-pity and selfishness. It's a relaxing movie for a night in, when you don't want a cliff hanger, or lots of action. Cranston is very interesting in this role. Jennifer Garner is in a strange role as an almost imaginary character. Thought this point of view was quite interesting. Liked the ending.

Oddly interesting yet kinda upsetting that instead of turning to his wife for support he basically abandons them & gets upset w her for having to move on for the sake of the kids! The ending was upsetting cuz it's a "WtH situation" but it was a good build up to see if he'd ever "come home" or never to be seen again living in the woods somewhere. It causes a LOT of mixed feelings, cuz clearly he's having a mental breakdown but he's such an ungrateful jerk, ya kinda wanna throat punch him LoL!

I couldn't give 1 star because the camera work and the acting is good, but the movie itself is weak at best. YouTube the previews, and then the "ending" before wasting your time watching this, and you basically seen the entire movie in 4 minutes. There will be no sequel, it just doesn't conclude. Bad.
