Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

The movie felt extremely flat. It contains some amazing concepts and visuals, it had the potential of being the best adventure films of all time. I didn´t care about any of the characters in the movie, especially the main characters. Scenes that are conceptually awesome, isnt executed well. Rihanna did a nice performance, but it felt like a somewhat disconnected subplot I´m surprised this is the same guy who made The Fifth Element which is one of the best sci-fi adventures of all time, but looking at the credits of that movie "The Fifth Element" was co-written with Robert Mark Karmen of Karate Kid fame so I guess that is the missing ingredient. Also, the visuals are very uneven. At times it felt like a direct to video avatar-copy, at other times it seemed they ran out of money or forgot to add visual effects (Like when valarian got out of the slimy stuff, the slime suddenly turned into cloth).

An OK movie who fail to either be a children Disney movie or to be a full fletch fantasy movie for a more adult audience. Movie was OK, storyline thin. But can be enjoyed as a popcorn movie. Nothing more, Rhianna was part of a cool budoair show though. Enjoyed her performance the most. SGX was good and lifted the movie a lot.
