Missed opportunities and forgotten dreams are brought to the forefront of Anna's mind, as she finds herself on holiday in Tuscany with a wealthier, more successful friend and their family. Contemplating the end of her own failing marriage, Anna watches as cracks begin to appear in the perfect bourgeois clan's relationship. In particular, between the smug self-righteous George and his put-upon son Oakley, within whom Anna finds a somewhat kindred spirit. Writer/director Joanna Hogg's sobering drama is bold in its morose reflection of human relationships, exposing the truths and desires identifiable in us all.
