Under the Skin

Love this movie. It is unique, subtle & nuanced, & with each viewing seems to reveal another layer. The soundtrack is eerie and original, & the cinematography exceptional. Unfortunately judging by some of these reviews it seemed to go over the heads of many, who were perhaps looking for the formulaic Hollywood man-vs-alien blood & guts tripe that requires no effort to watch or understand - or just watched it for the hope of seeing Scarlett Johansson naked. Seriously, just watch a porno guys.

I was not expecting to be moved by this movie. I decided to watch it because it had an interesting concept, but I wasn't convinced that it would captivate me as much as it ultimately did. Having said that though, I find it an impossible movie to suggest to other people. I can see how people would absolutely hate this, and why people would find this movie infinitely fascinating as I did. Scarlett Johansson is brilliant, and as her character evolves and desires to change, you can feel every awkward step she takes.

I have watched MANY movies and this one just left me with an odd feeling of loss. It was the loss of the hour and a half I waisted while waiting for it to get somewhere. I get the idea of pushing the envelope with artistic exploration etc. But sometimes it's just dumb. An Absolute waste of time.
