About this movie

From the creators of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, Turbo is a high-velocity comedy about an ordinary snail who dares to dream big — and fast. After a freak accident gives him the power of super-speed, Turbo kicks his dreaming into overdrive, and with the help of his streetwise snail crew, he embarks on an extraordinary journey to achieve the seemingly impossible: winning the Indianapolis 500!

The premise of this animated film has an outcome is very similar to the premise of Disney's the Aristocats, but this is a made-up story that can be interesting and it does not insult anyone's intelligence. Sure, Turbo may not have any surprises, and the film's narrative is predictable and nothing new, But what makes the movie so amazing, is the writing (particularly the script-writing for the screenplay). And most of the dialogue is simple, but well-written. But the problem is that some of the writing and most of the jokes are disposable and are just a filler (mostly from a snail named "white shadow"), like the character "Tito" said that Theo's brother "Chet" is a girl and a love-interest, and how the character Guy Gagne says something about a cheetah, and it's not really that accurate; Yes, a cheetah does not give up, but the fact is that cheetahs don't have stamina like the impala or the wildebeest. And by the way, the peregrine falcon is the world's fastest creature, not the cheetah. Anyway, The all-star cast did a excellent job with their voice talent; Ryan Reynolds as Theo/Turbo, Paul Giamatti as Chett, Samuel L Jackson as Whiplash, Ken Jeong as Kim-Ly, and Bill Hader as Guy Gagne. The animation is freshly upbeat that it's so good to look at, and the animation does have a strong sense of timing and cartoony comedy. Speaking of comedy, some of the comedy and most of the jokes are filler and they did fail, but what didn't fail is the tone, the timing, the voice acting, the swift movements for slapstick gags, and one genius scene that's like a child-friendly parody of the famous scene from Pulp Fiction involving whiplash, and that's what makes this movie funny, and I laughed several times. The score by Henry Jackman is just like your typical lively score for an animated movie, but here, Henry's score for Turbo has this flavor that has a robust and colorful spiceness to it, regardless, the score is a strong, dynamic, sprightly animated score. To conclude: Turbo may not be the most entertaining, or the funniest, or the most original movie, but it is a solid fun animated ride that the whole family can enjoy, even I found this movie to be an innocent and enjoyable diversion. Recommended.

This definitely isn't going down as the greatest racing movie ever (that belongs to Need for Speed), but this has irony in it: a very slow-moving snail gets a speed boost from some nitrous he ingested into his system (which should have killed him, but this is a fantasy kid's movie, so we can't have that) and becomes the fastest animal ever, fast enough to compete in the Indy 500, where cars not too far off from Formula One race cars easily go over 190 mph. I would have rather preferred a movie about a human trying to make it in the world of Indy Car racing, but I guess Dreamworks decided to think outside the box with this one. It's a Good movie for kids with a good theme, but boring for anyone past the age of 12.

One of our favorites!! Turbo can make you laugh & cry (the good kind). There are those little scripts that you keep on using after seeing this movie! A ton of action, put together in a way that Dreamworks can. Very cute Characters that you can't help but adore! Turbo gets and deserves a 5 * and for everyone to give it a chance. Really good movie to own.
