About this movie

James Franco and Jonah Hill star in this taut thriller from writer-director Rupert Goold, based on Michael Finkel’s chilling, real-life story. After a disgraced New York Times journalist (Hill) learns that Christian Longo, a man accused of murdering his family, claims to be him, he is intrigued and begins meeting with Longo. But as time goes on, Finkel realizes how dangerous Longo really is.

From the get go, Jonah Hill is both hard to watch and listen to in this role. He's already saddled with a grating voice that sounds more female than male - which in itself is unpleasant in it's airy, nasal tone. But combined with his own apparent physical discomfort with his increasingly massive girth, he delivers a constrained and rigid performance physically. Clearly uncomfortable in his own skin, he relays the same to the viewer with a complete disconnect between intent and delivery, physically.

Same story that could have been a good film. Story was worthy of better writing, cinematography and actors. NOT. Jonah Hill was grating and still can't be more than an limited amateur. His voice evan annoys. Find a really good story and this isn't...

I went into this film knowing it was going to be more dramatic than what you normally see from Hill and Franco. The story is actually pretty good, but drags on a little slow. It isn't anything super cerebral, just a decent story.
