About this movie

From Judd Apatow, the guy who brought you Bridesmaids. Since she was a little girl, it’s been drilled into Amy’s (Schumer) head by her rascal of a dad (Colin Quinn) that monogamy isn’t realistic. Now a magazine writer, Amy lives by that credo – enjoying what she feels is an uninhibited life free from stifling, boring romantic commitment – but in actuality, she’s kind of in a rut. When she finds herself starting to fall for the subject of a new article she’s writing, a charming and successful sports doctor named Aaron Conners (Bill Hader), Amy starts to wonder if other grown-ups, including this guy who really seems to like her, might be onto something. Anyone who's seen half a dozen rom coms in their life could give you the plot outline just from the premise (actually, probably just from the poster.) (Sure, they're not playing by traditional gender roles, but that doesn't make any part of the plot a surprise.) Given we know where it's going, it drags a bit in getting there. I didn't really care about the romantic relationship - it was just too easily mapped out, and served only as a plot device on which to hang Amy's character development. All that said, it's enjoyable, and occasionally even very funny. Most of the characters are not awful people, and the sibling relationship provides some genuine pathos.

Rented the movie mainly cos of Bill hader and cos of the good reviews I saw about how revolutionary this movie is, but it was such a disappointment!!! There's nothing funny or different about the movie it's just the same formula as every other coming of age guy movie, but with Amy schumer in the lead seat. Probably the funniest in the movie was John cena, which is saying something in a movie with two comedic actors supposed to be at the top of their art.

It had mixed reviews but I thought I would give it a chance. A couple of funny moments but otherwise one best left for TV re runs when there is nothing else to watch. Some of the cameos questionable - Daniel Radcliffe, what were you thinking?
