A gem of it's time. Doesn't hold up so well especially since the sequel outdoes its filmography in every way. I've always felt the weakness of the movie was everything to do with the characters & their relationships which are all paper thin caricatures. Example why is an astrophysicist consulting with Top Gun pilots? They aren't even leaving earth's atmosphere. Still it's soundtrack was great & deserves recognition for pioneering something only Howard Hughes could dream of.

Besides being super boring and the characters having zero personality, Tom Cruise has a unibrow that he refused to shave for the entire movie.

Totally awesome mooovie loved the fast f16's never been near one maverick was the sexy guy on the ship and Valmer to (ice man was just as gorgeous as well.
