About this movie

The Brothers Grimm's classic fairy tale comes to the screen. When a childless woodcutter spares a magic tree, the Queen of the Forest grants the man and his wife a son--only five and a half inches tall, a great joy, a great worry...and destined for great things--a boy named Tom Thumb. In a series of high-spirited, musical adventures, Tom (Russell Tamblyn--West Side Story, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) saves the village treasury from villains Ivan (Terry-Thomas--Those Magnificent Menin Their Flying Machines) and Tony (Peter Sellers--The Pink Panther films, Being There)...and most remarkably of all, plays cupid for a romance between Woody the Piper (Alan Young--"Mr. Ed") and The Forest Queen. Blending live action, puppetry and animation into a magical, musical family adventure.

FALLACY 101
September 21, 2020
Though it was made long before I was, this is one of those timeless classics that resonated with me as a young child and still does as an adult. It's a story that will always have a place in my heart. Well done for it's time and enjoyable for all ages. Even now, when technology is reaching new peaks, hourly. Such creativity will surely hold firm for ages to come, even if remade with recent advancements of todays cinematic, limitless-nesses. Splendid movie.
