About this movie

Tolkien explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the "fellowship" apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.

Excellent period film about a great individual. Movie is beautifully shot with good music. The film did justice to the people & era of Tolkien's time; there are very substantive (& poignant) things said in this film about language, identity, & history. JRR Tolkien (& his son Christopher) was vital in contributing to modern European storytelling & folklore. I hope the 21st-century “modern” world doesn't ruin JRR Tolkien's world, now that Christopher is gone as of this week.
