About this movie

A haunting horror fairytale set against the backdrop of Mexico’s devastating drug wars; TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID follows a group of orphaned children who are unexpectedly given three magical wishes. As they run from the cartel that murdered their parents and the ghosts that haunt them, they must decide how to use this special gift to save their own lives and the people they love. Acclaimed by critics and filmmakers alike, Guillermo del Toro has called TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID “an unsparing blend of fantasy and brutality, innocence and evil.”

The movie although touching in some ways was not really all that good. Sure the kids did a pretty good job acting but really the types of emotion they had to portray were somewhat bleak and with little range. Basically just kinda happy to very sad all the time. Still kids deserve props. I just didn't find the story interesting. Also the effects were not that impressive. CGI did not look very real and Dead people were just covered in bags. Anyway, Definitely not Guillermo Del Toro type stuff.

This divinely chilling foreign import chooses a dire setting -- a cartel-devastated border town -- to tell a fairy tale that's both horrifying and emotionally affecting.
