About this movie

Twelve people have walked on the moon, but only one man – Philippe Petit (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – has ever walked in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. Guided by his real-life mentor, Papa Rudy (Ben Kingsley), and aided by an unlikely band of international recruits, Petit and his gang overcome long odds, betrayals, dissension and countless close calls to conceive and execute their mad plan. Academy Award® winning director Robert Zemeckis uses advanced technology in the service of an emotional, character-driven story. The Walk is a love letter to Paris and New York City in the 1970s, but most of all, to the Towers of the World Trade Center.

If you are sensitive to heights, this film will make your palms sweat. As a feat, it probably remains unmatched by anything before it. Since then, Yosemite's great cliff El Capitan has been scaled without any net, the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls have been wirewalked, but Phillippe Petit's wire walk of the Twin Towers remains the most courageous thing ever done and this movie doesn't miss a gripping moment.

One of the greatest lines in this film is "it's impossible...but I'll do it." I really liked that because he just went for it, no matter what the cost, even his life. I think if your life is on the line to reach your goals, you should probably say "enough is enough", other than that, go for it. Another way this film touched me was how at the end, he kind of told how he was affected by 9/11. Won't say how, for those of you who haven't seen it. I thought it was a great pretty tense film.

Though I love watching biography films or films based on true events, I am not in favour of this movie pretty much. I do admire how courageous and how clear and confident the Walker has been planning to challenge the WTO, the slow motion of movie makes me fall asleep a few times. If you do like explore further about a true explorer, watch it; otherwise, skip it!
