The movie is full of predictable tropes and unexplored depths of character. The audience is asked to invest in a protagonist who is written as little more than a stereotype. The death scenes hold little impact due to lack of originality and lack of interest in the characters from the audience. The script goes through the expected motions of a PG rated gore-fest. The crudest thing about the film is not the rare curseword but the script itself. The film seems to rely heavily on a disjointed and vauguely nostalgiac soundtrack to lend poignancy that ends up about as enthralling as a phone book being read by Ben Stein, to himself - silently.

Review for the Theatrical version! I bought this movie at Wal-Mart on DVD for about $20. I loved the first movie and was super excited to see the sequel. Let me start by saying this movie didn't disappoint. It was highly entertaining with a lot of amazing camera shots, terrific acting, and a good story. What I like most about this film is that it legit feels like a real 80s slasher flick. You got all the classic 80s rock music while the strangers prey at night!!. Bailee Madison has an amazing role and the most badass of the entire family. You WILL dislike the teenage girl at first but then you grow to love her! And she deserves to live!!! Very good horror movie in my opinion, definitely give it a shot. Now I heard the Unrated version isnt much different not to mention that the running time for both versions are 85 min. But I still look forward to watching the Unrated version tonight! I love this movie so much and even slightly better than the original. I will admit the sequel isn't as scary as the first but it is highly entertaining and gripping and intriguing, and also a bit creepy at times. 10/10 rating from me! I love this movie, love the characters, if you haven't yet seen this movie give it a watch. Don't let the haters scare you off.
