About this movie

Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet, and Kevin Hart lend their voice talents to this action/adventure comedy taking a hilarious look into the lives of Pets. Set in a Manhattan apartment building, pets gather to start their day as the two-legged residents head for work and school. The head hound is a quick-witted terrier rescue, whose position at the epicenter of his master's universe is suddenly threatened when she comes home with Duke, a sloppy mongrel with no polish. The two soon find themselves on the mean streets of New York, where they meet the adorable white bunny Snowball. It turns out that Snowball is the leader of an army of pets that were abandoned and are determined to get back at humanity and every owner-loving pet. The dogs must thwart this plot and make it back in time for dinner. (Original Title - The Secret Life of Pets) - 2016 Universal Studios. All Rights Reserved.

This film is just another nail in Illumination's coffin which is filled with poorly made films. This film lives up to it's abbreviation (SLOP) because that is exactly what it is. The characters are so stock, so stereotypical and clichéd, the romance is so cringeworthy like every other hero-heroine romance in films! Despicable Me 2's romance was believable and heartwarming. This one was overplayed. The plot while at first glance, may look original and fresh, is nothing more than a rehash of the far better and more groundbreaking Toy Story. The gags were also cheap and lame and the film just dived into boredom. If Despicable Me 3 ends up being another nail, I won't see anymore of Illumination's films. They've done their run and just need to accept that it's over for them.

This is clearly written by someone who has pets - that are actually part of the family, not just animals. It's very witty and had us laughing a lot - I don't just mean the odd giggle, I mean full on can't breathe because I'm laughing too much. The story is not as predictable as you might think. It's fun for the whole family, not just kids. Be aware - there is another small sketch just before the full cast and credits roll - so keep watching after the end.

This is absolutely terrible animation for children. Don't show it to children under 10 years old. This should never get rating U. There are words as "idiot", "sucker" and an idea of pets killing their owners so they can be free. I had to turn it off after 15 minutes of showing it to my 4 and 6 years olds. It is shameful that the studio approved such a plot and wording in a animation that is targeted at such a young audience.
