This might not quite have the freshness and the edge of the first episode but it doesn't disappoint. The film follows the same tried and tested formula with many of the original cast returning in the sequel. There are a number of plot lines as we follow the characters from the first film and find out how they have been getting on. Of course the calibre of the acting is excellent as with the first film, but then I haven't seen a bad film with Judy Dench in. Worth watching.

I thought the first Marigold Hotel was good but this movie based on the Second Marigold Hotel was amazing! I really love a movie which you can get into and relate to in a personal way. I've been to India before and there are just so many things you can look back at and laugh at as a person who's toured and visited that country! Beautiful music, excellent cast and good on plot line... The actors do save the film a bit, but then tell me a film that doesn't get saved by having good actors half the time? All of the negative sweet Grandmom talk, with people saying it gets viewers thrilled by intelligent passing jokes is nonsense and agist! The film is aimed at quite a specific audience, but reaches out to a wider audience which I think was John Madden's intention. I know it got many critical reviews but personally to be honest it's either a film you will hate or love to bits and really enjoy!

A very good film. But it is always difficult to keep standards from first film, as that is in any film . But this is still a great film with so much colours and dancing, I do wonder about a 3rd, only to find out who ends up with who and what becomes of Mrs Donnelly.
