The Promise (2017)

I watched it in theaters. It was heartbreaking considering the present still ongoing denials. Look what happened cannot be ignored, the truth cannot be twisted, altered, omitted, nor rewritten in a form that favors a group of people over another. What happened, happened; period. RIP to all the victims as those of us in the light side of humanity can only hope our darkest nature doesn't have to happen again.

A delicious treat for the eyes as well as the soul, The Promise unfolds as a epic film yet breaks your heart by the end, as the truth of the historical horrors are revealed. This is a story, like other attempts to eradicate a people, tribe, or religion, that needed to be told and have more light shed on the ways in which greed and power hunger can lead human beings to rise up against one another. We must learn from the past in order to avoid its pitfalls, and we must learn to love one another and treat all with respect and dignity. These types of genocides must stop happening. There is enough for all. My thanks to the producers who brought this story to life. My sons are of Armenian decent (among other places). My heart goes out to the Armenian people who's resillience is nothing short of remarkable.
