About this movie

Adapted from the classic novel by Charles Dickens, THE PERSONAL HISTORY OF DAVID COPPERFIELD brings to life one of the author's most cherished characters. From birth to infancy, from adolescence to adulthood, the good-hearted David Copperfield (Dev Patel) is surrounded by kindness, wickedness, poverty and wealth, as he meets an array of remarkable characters in Victorian England. As David sets out to be a writer, in his quest for family, friendship, romance and status, the story of his life is the most seductive tale of all.

Wonderfully fun and engaging take on the Dicken's Classic, with the spirit of the original characters from the book truthfully presented. It's definitely irreverent and a bit madcap in places, but once again the book was always meant as a sprawling romp. I'd ignore the one star reviews here. Most of their concerns are to do with the racial background of the cast even though they're all British actors.

Absolutely loved this film. The cinematography and acting were brilliant, and the costumes blew me away. Despite the fact that it seemed like the story did not have a clear story it was following a, the story still made sense (also keep in mind the story was loosely based on history). I found the way the story was delivered was very beautiful and whimsical. I can see why some people would be off put by the story not following history exactly and adding people of colour, but as stated earlier, I feel like the directors and screen writers were more focused on the feel of the story rather than the fact.

The absolute worst film I have watched for a long time,a waste of good acting talent and lavish sets. The mixing of race is making a point but taking it to far .I would have enjoyed this more if all the actors were black .This rubbish is someone with too much money and in my opinion taking the copper field. It would be like making roots with white actors, yes another point being politically made but a movie surely is not the place for that point.
