This film was far from a masterclass in blockbuster filmmaking and didn't deserve such buzz, but kids will enjoy this for its Jim Henson-esque appeal and kung fu spectacle despite the wireworkishness and crap CG.

The movie is fantastic, its a faerie tale in alot of ways. Splendid action and a whole lot of heart. Donnie Yen is a golden god, a golden monkey god.Overall the acting is exactly where it needs to be. The costars shine apropriatly and Donnie Yen's Monkey is just amazing. It took my western eyes a second or two to grow accustomed to everything, and at first I was a little worried, but as I watched I found myself grinning from enjoyment. I cannot wait for the sequal to hit the U.S.!

Donnie yen did a great job coming off the ip man series and was a really good choice for monkey, and from first watch I was hooked..not looking forward to the aaron kwok version really, but long live the monkey king sun wukong👍
