This is a great movie, special-effects are awesome. The acting is great. The story itself is compelling. The first movie is really good and I love Donnie Yen but I feel like this second movie has better action and fx. The story picks up pretty much where the first movie leaves off. It really captures the energy and spirit of the story and conveys the morals and lessons just right. I loved it! Just one thing, if you're not familiar with the story you might be a little lost. It isn't necessary to see the first movie but if you were to read a synopsis of the original legend it would explain a lot. I don't think there be any huge spoilers. Basically, monkey is an immortal who got in trouble with the gods and was cursed to be trapped under a mountain until he was needed. A monk Is chosen to go on a mission to retrieve sacred texts, monkey gets a chance to redeem himself by protecting the monk.
