About this movie

A deep-sea submersible filled with an international research crew lies disabled at the bottom of the Pacific after having been attacked by a massive shark previously thought to be extinct. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao) to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now he must risk his own life to save everyone trapped below...bringing him face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time!

This isn't Jaws, but it also isn't Sharknado... I wasn't sure what to expect with this, but what I ended up getting was a movie that was actually watchable for the most part. Sure, like with almost every movie out there you will find things that make you go, "Duh, that ain't gonna happen," but sometimes it's just fun to make fun of the film and simply go along with it - this is that film. You simply start to enjoy it despite how it tries to derail itself. Nothing will surprise you, some scenes will remind you of other movies (Piranha 3D (2010)), and again, some scenes will have you scratching your head. However, watch it with some friends, have a few beers, and you'll be laughing and talking about how dumb 'that' was while enjoying it.

Dear lord, please let ignorant people like charpe cj stop leaving movie reviews. Its one thing to be a race hater but to bash a movie because it doesn't have enough of your ethnic group represented is plain stupidity! Judging by his comments he's of African descent, we all know we don't get in the ocean much or chase sharks. I apologize for his stupidity. Decent movie, worth a rent and even a buy if you're into sharks.

Worth renting but not buying. This movie is okay as a popcorn movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. If you're looking for a more series/darker shark movie, this isn't the one. The writing for the characters is often lazy and mediocre, and the sharks are your typical boring, murderous monsters that shouldn't even be interested in hunting tiny humans.
