About this movie

A deep-sea submersible filled with an international research crew lies disabled at the bottom of the Pacific after having been attacked by a massive shark previously thought to be extinct. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao) to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now he must risk his own life to save everyone trapped below...bringing him face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time!

Mindless, action packed, with light humor. If you're looking to just spend some time "chillaxing", then this is a decent enough a watch for you. It did for me, what it was suppose to, be an entertaining escape from the reality and the mundane every day life. Great fun! ◘◘◘ Rant and irrelevant mumbling of a crazy fool after this point. ◘◘◘ I read a good few comments and I'd like to point some of the comments that were least helpful in determining if the movie is worth a watch: • The price tag has nothing to do with the movie. If that's all you want to say then don't say anything at all. The reviews should be about the movie and not googles business choices. Time and place people, time and place. • This is not a Horror movie; it isn't labeled as one and it isn't one. If you came looking for a horror movie - you're in the wrong place.

It's not a bad film (entirely). Great fun for the family to watch. But it has the effect of an unfinished film and it feels like a film that is still in production and was rushed to be released. They try to build romance and tension between the characters but this feels so awkward, cringey and wrong for such a short film. Scientifically not accurate at all. How a huge shark from the undiscovered depths of the ocean could rise to the top in seconds without exploding from the change in pressure, is beyond me. I was hoping to see a good reconstruction of the prehistoric megaladon shark in action, but was sorely disappointed as they just show you a few absurd glimpses of it. Above all, it contributes to the demonisation of sharks in films and scaremongers unnecessarily. Films like this create irrational fear and causes sharks to be killed. People should remember that humans are the most dangerous creatures ever to exist. Good luck trying to make any other animal look worse than us! One positive thing is that this film presents women in an empowering light. The main character is a strong, intelligent woman who is marine expert, with a young daughter, who is pretty fearless. Shame she required so much saving from the male character. And beware: A little dog dies in this film and gets eaten by the Meg. It's a very short, non-graphic scene but still...

The film does not try to take its self serious what so ever. There are some nods back to Jaws which made me laugh. If you want to see an action film where it does what it says on the cover...this is it. The regular species of sharks in the film are shown in a good light. There is a point in the film where you see how shark fishing targeted for finning is crule and barbaric...the meg evens the score there 😉 Watch it...you will enjoy it 😀
