Visuals in this film are great, I mean it's easy to imagine that Matt Damon is on Mars. But the film itself seems to be a mash up of many others. Robinson crueso on Mars, Gravity, castaway, Interstellar and especially apollo 13. It does have its highs and lows, you want Matt Damon to make it home. If you enjoyed apollo 13 then u will like it, but of all the space rescue movies, the for mentioned apollo 13 is the best.

I've seen it twice now and liked it mostly. But I found it got a bit daft also cheesy near the end. Plus I didn't understand why they dragged it out to go back and fetch hin. I thought it was obvious that was going to happen. But I enjoyed the science in the movie and most of the storyline even though it felt like they were fleshing it out a bit too much to adapt the book to movie transition.....

If you like space travel and the hardware, launches, trajectory theory and so on, then this movie will fit the bill for you. Bearing in mind there are several strong female leads; this one will appeal to the ladies. If you don't like space movies, then perhaps consider something else. I personally enjoyed this, albeit being quite the patchwork thriller with some formulaic USA-chant-esque melodrama from generic over the top furnished with screens control rooms. A nice touch of history does bring it all around to a semi-believable scenario. A worthy purchase, and I will be watching this again. The fact that NASA is working towards this goal (reaching mars) makes it all the more poignant and fun to watch.
