About this movie

Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. centers on CIA agent Solo (Man of Steel's Henry Cavill) and KGB agent Kuryakin (The Social Network's Armie Hammer). Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo's only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.

I'm a spy movie fan, Guy Ritchie fan and used to watch the TV show as a kid but this movie just didn't click with me even though I really wanted to like it. It's long, trying really to hard, very cliched with cliched characters who just follow their lines and with cliched plot lines. It's really like a double length TV show and unfortunately a mediocre one at that. Neither gripping nor humorous nor sexy. I somehow doubt there will ever a sequel but if there is perhaps the characters will lighten up an turn into real people. Unfortunately I probably wont be bothering to watch it. I hope Guy hands over the reigns to someone else and can get back to his usual level of quality output with other ventures.

Classy! The spy plot in itself was fun enough but what makes this movie so awesome is how it's done. Everything; the cinematography, the music, the acting, clothes...they're all just classy! The characters really drive the plot in this movie and everyone does such a great job so that you're entertained whether they're running for their lives or having a drink. The chemistry of the main characters is great as well. This is such a well put together movie and the phrase "this is art" came to mind often when I was watching this (a phrase I RARELY think with movies today). Definitely watch, fun surprises and laughs!

A great cocktail of humor, wit, and style in the way of the original James Bond series. Set in a tumultuous time in our world history, with references to well-known stereotypes from Germany, Russia, and United States of America, this adventure is worth watching again and again. I've watched this film over 5 times and now own my own copy to share with my friends, all of whom appreciate classy humor in a day and age when sex, drugs, and death flood our cinemas. A definite must see for all ages 13+.
