About this movie

In the first part of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings, a shy young hobbit named Frodo Baggins inherits a simple gold ring. He knows the ring has power, but not that he alone holds the secret to the survival--or enslavement--of the entire world. Now Frodo, accompanied by a wizard, an elf, a dwarf, two men and three loyal hobbit friends, must become the greatest hero the world has ever known to save the land and the people he loves.

Middle earth perfectly imagined in this masterpiece of modern cinema. Every second spent in this movie is a second well spent. I have personally watched this movie countless times and am always enthralled. This is the first of 6 trips to Peter Jackson's Middle Earth (in the Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit) movies and introduces us to the Shire, Rivendell and the characters which make up the Fellowship of the Ring (all things good) as well as the whispers of evil which grow into something much more ominous as the movie builds towards it's several climaxes. Amazing.

There are few things in life that never disappoint. This film is one of them. Setting up a vast, epic story and realising the world of Middle Earth, this film charms you, scares you, excites and carries you along. One thing it never does is bore. A true gem.
