About this movie

In the first part of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings, a shy young hobbit named Frodo Baggins inherits a simple gold ring. He knows the ring has power, but not that he alone holds the secret to the survival--or enslavement--of the entire world. Now Frodo, accompanied by a wizard, an elf, a dwarf, two men and three loyal hobbit friends, must become the greatest hero the world has ever known to save the land and the people he loves.

YES! I can't believe it! The Extended Edition is FINALLY available on Google Play!!! At least, for one of the three Lord of the Rings films. It's a start! I just saw The Hobbit Part II a couple days ago in theaters, and it really got me in the mood to re-watch the Lord of the rings trilogy. I have the extended editions on DVD from when they were first released, but now a days I really try to avoid using DVD's at all if I can help it. They're just way too inconvenient when compared to watching movies through my Chromecast. I was ALMOST tempted to get the LOTR trilogy (non-extended version) when I saw the movies go on sale in the Google Play Store. But I've been holding out this entire time for the extended editions to hopefully become available. And finally, my patience has paid off! I really hope this is a sign of things to come. Please release the extended editions of the other two LOTR films ASAP!! I promise to purchase them IMMEDIATELY! :)

Don't get me wrong. The movie in itself is very well-done and entertaining. I mean, it's no Hobbit or anything, but it's fun, action-packed, and entertaining, and probably everyone can have fun or relate to it somehow. However, at over 3 hrs. long, the long running time keeps me from fully enjoying it. I saw the Extended Edition and I'm sure if I had seen the Theatrical version I would have liked it more, but it was so long that after a while I began to lose interest. I was entertained, yes, but I just got tired of it after a while. It's a good movie, but would have been great if shorter.

Lotr is a saga, so I can't say that one is better than the other, because the trilogy tells the same story. Lotr has many hidden messages in them, and many Christians will be able to tell. The messages are hard to follow, but that is what tolkein intended, opposed to something like Narnia, which is quite obvious. These movies are amazing, and I think it would be hard to ever be a movie greater than them. U must watch them!! Smarter than a hobbit. Stronger than a Dwarf. More agile than an Elf. I'm a Fan.
