About this movie

Based on the best-selling book by master storyteller Nicholas Sparks, The Longest Ride will make you believe in true love. When Luke (Scott Eastwood), a former champion bull rider attempting a comeback, meets Sophia (Britt Robertson), a college student preparing for her dream job in New York, they embark on an extraordinary — yet uncertain — romantic journey. As conflicting paths test their budding relationship, Luke and Sophia make a fateful connection with Ira (Alan Alda), whose heartwarming memories of his own marriage inspire the young couple and change their lives forever.

I absolutely love this movie! I have to agree with other reviewers, this is in no way Nicholas Sparks' best movie but it is extremely enjoyable and the artistic edge that it has (not just talking about the art in the movie but the movie itself) is incomparable. One thing I love about this movie (and this may just be purely my opinion) but I can watch it over and over again and not get tired of it. Yes, you know what is going to happen so it isn't AS good as watching it the first time and no, it doesn't get better the more you watch it but it is still a feel good movie to either fall asleep to or play in the background.

I have a love/hate relationship with Nicholas Sparks. And even when I hate him, I love him because he makes me feel real emotions. Even when he's killing off beloved characters. The Longest Ride though is a definite 'love him' moment! It was sweet and poignant and I loved the twist at the end. I've always adored Alan Alda and as usual, he brought the emotions. And may I just say, Scott Eastwood did a fantastic job and has that same smolder that his dad has...only hotter! I loved the merging storylines from two different decades. Different situations, same problems...timeless.

Fate seems to love this couple. Although being a Nicolas Sparks inspired move I was willing to suspend my disbelief and give this movie a chance as I loved the notebook. Having said that the matchmaker of our modern couple is the wind. Yes the wind brings the destined couple together. That is the least of this film's problems. The Longest Ride is indeed a long ride. It takes it's time to hit it's stride by that time the audience is left wondering which couple this movie is really about.
