About this movie

Disney's The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau, journeys to the African savanna, where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub's arrival. Scar, Mufasa's brother-and former heir to the throne-has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba's exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. Disney's The Lion King utilizes pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way.

I personally really enjoyed watching the remake. It added missing backstories from the original and fixed mistakes. Even though both films have the same plot (Bamlet), they both bring something different to the table that the other one does not, such as the colour and vibrancy in the original and the singing in the 2019 remake. I have already seen the film twice (in 2D and in 4Dx), even though it has only been out for less than two weeks. I intend to go again with a friend who shares The Lion King as her favourite childhood film with me and who has not seen the remake yet. I could never get bored of watching The Lion King , both the original and the remake. I do recommend watching this, as it is a really fun film and is also rather moving (I teared up a little in Simba's ascent to Pride Rock). It was also great to be hearing more voice actors who have a heritage linking to Africa compared to the original, as well as James Earl Jones stepping into Mufasa's shoes (or should I say paw prints) once again to speak in his moving role. I have a glimmer of hope in my heart that they will do a remake of The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, as other Disney remakes are getting sequels.

They just thought if they could, not if they should. It was alright as they added more backstory and how much work they put into it making it lifelike is amazing, but it was just for the money. The actors they put were just for name and didn't fit the characters, they ruined the songs especially 'can you feel the love tonight', there was just no heart and all I could hear was Beyonce overpowering the song(no hate) .Underwhelming and disappointed. Just my opinion, you can watch it if you want.🤷‍

Seeing as The Lion King empire (films, digital off-shoots, live musical, video games and toys and other assorted merchandise) has earned Disney and associated subsidiaries around $10bn (give or take a few million) this good-looking, great sounding but too samey remake was never going to need its begging bowl at box offices.
