The Lighthouse

What did I expect? I did not like The Witch, I found it to be predictable and not scary. Essentially most people can go into the film almost knowing what to expect next. I think the director has style and I don't mind a black & white film but 4.3 aspect ratio is garbage. The two combined is a bit much. The Lighthouse is predictable, strange, gross and not frightening in the least. It's a psychological thriller. The one thing I did admire is the acting.

Hated it. Great acting and visuals but the story just kept going in circles. I should have known I hated the witch too. I'm shocked by the overwhelmingly positive reviews I usually agree with the critics but definelty do not here. Again in my eyes it had huge potential but I found the story lacking.

this movie was supremely bizarre. the cinematography is rather good. the visuals are amazing. but the story is rather lack luster. Robert pattenson does a good job, but as always wiliam dafoe steals the lime light.
