From Robert Eggers, the visionary filmmaker behind the modern horror masterpiece The Witch, comes this hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers (Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson) on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s. As an approaching storm threatens to sweep them from the rock and strange apparitions emerge from the fog, each man begins to suspect that the other has become dangerously unmoored.

Willem Dafoes best performance of his career, aswell as seeing Robert Pattinson display his range as an powerful actor. 'The Lighthouse' is a rare kind of masterful cinema done by its intriguing themes, effective plot points/dialouge and commited performances. Only watch if you can handle the madness!

On the positive side it has great acting, an interesting setting and beautiful cinematography. The negative is basically everything else.. So if you like miserable and depressing stories performed well, this movie is for you!

An atmospheric(old world charm) & incrementally claustrophobic descent into madness. Moments of shakespearean like dialogue with elements of HP Lovecraft's cthulhu mythos.
