About this movie

Lighthouse keeper Tom Sherbourne (Michael Fassbender) and radiant, spirited Isabel (Alicia Vikander) live together in married bliss on a remote, rugged island off the coast of Australia. But their windswept world is turned upside down when Isabel learns that she’s unable to bear a child. One day, a drifting lifeboat washes ashore with a crying baby in it. The dilemma the couple now face will echo far beyond the island, engulfing and irrevocably impacting their world – and that of a stranger (Rachel Weisz) – in a passionate story about love, hope, and a fateful choice.

It's for mature audiences who says that about movies. This ain't a matures audience movie.. a little girl can watch this movie and like it. I'm a guy as soon I saw the picture I was thinking wow it's just about this couple falling in love or something. But when I saw the trailer it was more about the baby. Looks interesting but not my taste.

Terrible chemistry between Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender. I have no idea how Vikander gets the roles she does, in my opinion she is not a leading lady role type of actress, at least not in the movies I've seen her in. The acting in this movie was simply not good. And the plot really was awful. Who the hell would be selfish enough to do this to a child, let alone the biological mother offering to let Vikander have the child back if she testifies against her husband. Just stupid! There were several parts that were rushed including the end. Wouldn't waste my time or my money again.

I wanted so badly to give this movie 4 stars but I just can't because it is slow developing and I think they try and shuttle it all at you three quarters of the way through the story. I liked this film alot and I think it was a nice story but it failed in the viewpoint on the director.
