Unrealistic concept. In order to get a moratorium on the death penalty 4 people turn a suicide into a murder so that a man will be convicted of it and put on death row. The premise here is that an innocent man will die and show how the death penalty does not work. The problem here, it took the two people a lawyer and an accomplice to manipulate the scene to make it look like a murder the only thing that proved it wasn't a murder was a videotape taken of it as it happens this is why the two reporters are brought in, to listen to him tell a story of his innocents and find a video tape and turn it in just after he dies. The police did their job they followed the evidence it showed it was a murder. the only way to do this would be for the lawyer the prosecutors the cops to make a mistake and the man gets convicted of a murder he didn't do and is given the death penalty and is executed. This man assisted in a suicide which is a crime and set it up to look like a murder there were no mistakes it was a setup and it didn't work, two people die for nothing. sorry for the spoiler it's not worth watching well maybe it's worth watching to see how it all goes down they are good actors

you have to watch it even after the credit rolls to get that last "ah ha" or that "never saw that coming" moving ending, and this is the first movie in over twenty years that stumped me, even that last little rid bit I'm usually spot on on who done it drama and suspense movies but this one ran my brain to drain, great movie, not to mention outstanding acting

Eminently watchable movie for all the reasons we are human - sin, mortal punishment, and man's weakness and misjudgment. Perhaps it's the stellar cast - Kevin Spacey at his effortless best, Laura Linney - charmingly earnest, and more - this one is a watcher! I can't get this movie out of my head - the righteousness of evil, redemption and fallibility of man! 2 1/2 hrs of gripping, dramatic pleasure for the thinking man. A Must Watch!!
