About this movie

Set amidst the political turmoil of WWII-era Sweden, The Last Sentence tells the extraordinary story of Torgny Segerstedt, a journalist who embarked on a one-man crusade against Hitler. Bravely challenging the Nazis, and his own government’s policy of neutrality, Segerstedt (Jesper Christensen), editor-in-chief of a major newspaper, fought a literal life-and-death battle over the fate of Sweden. At the same time, Segerstedt’s uncompromising nature led to an equally tumultuous private life, involving a scandalous love affair that crippled his family and ultimately led to tragedy. Directed by Swedish master Jan Troell, The Last Sentence is a complex and gripping, warts-and-all account of the man and the hero.
