About this movie

Set in Japan during the 1870s, THE LAST SAMURAI tells the story of Capt. Nathan Algren (TOM CRUISE), a respected American military officer hired by the Emperor of Japan to train the country's first army in the art of modern warfare. As the Emperor attempts to eradicate the ancient Imperial Samurai warriors in preparation for more Westernized and trade-friendly government policies, Algren finds himself unexpectedly impressed and influenced by his encounters with the Samurai, which places him at the center of a struggle between two eras and two worlds, with only his own sense of honor to guide him. Historically it stays far from what really happened (the Westerner was French, the Samurai were not that cool) but it is a very well made movie and Cruise is surprisingly good. I recommend.

The principal conceit of the story is a little grating, but in terms of execution The Last Samurai can hardly be faulted. This is truly lavish moviemaking, with the added bonus of a show-stealing performance by Ken Watanabe.

Humanity in maintain tradition and honor in Japanese Kingdom which tries to compete their civilation with west countries. Sometime people who strongly defend our faith of honor comes up from our origin enemy who can see clearly by their heart that we do all this thing to get God blessing with honor of faith in defending the truth and beloved country. And Matsumoto done his wisdom completely to Captain Green, both defend origin wisdom of Japanese Kingdom with their soul. Finally Emperor do right.
