About this movie

Judd Apatow (Trainwreck, Knocked Up & The 40-Year-Old Virgin) directs Saturday Night Live breakout Pete Davidson in a bracing comedy about love, loss and laughter on Staten Island. Scott (Davidson) has been a case of arrested development ever since his firefighter father died when he was seven. He's now reached his mid-20s having achieved little, chasing a dream of becoming a tattoo artist that seems far out of reach. As his ambitious younger sister (Maude Apatow, HBO's Euphoria) heads off to college, Scott is still living with his exhausted ER nurse mother (Oscar®-winner Marisa Tomei) and spends his days smoking weed, hanging with his buddies and secretly hooking up with his childhood friend Kelsey. When his mother starts dating a loudmouth firefighter, it sets off a chain of events that will force Scott to grapple with his grief and take his first tentative steps toward moving forward in life.

I would not call this a bad movie but I would not call it good either. I like Pete Davidson so I was really hoping this movie would be better & funnier! Not saying there weren't funny moments because there most definitely were! But those moments were mostly in the 1st half & it was also kind of slow moving & I got a little bored off & on... & the 2nd half was unfortunately even more slow...

Gotta say I had higher hopes for another amazing Judd Apatow film. Definitely feel a little let down on that aspect. Seemed like the only actor or actress in this case that held this movie together was Marissa Tomei. The movie was definitely interesting for sure. Was expecting more of a comedy but it seemed more like a comedians poor attempt at making his own movie. Something like earlier work of Seth Rogens films. It was still a good movie overall imo. But nothing like what I was expecting and certainly not as funny as I was really hoping it to be.

I was really looking foward to watching it until I saw the 20 for rent...yea 2 movie tickets cost more but I ain't at the movies so why tf would I spend a purchase price?I could stream this for free but wanted to support PD...I'll wait for that price to drop...it just seems silly when most movies that are out dont cost this much.
