I liked 'The Lobster', however I disliked this movie greatly. The rules of the world weren't made clear unlike 'The Lobster'. Why was Martin able to kill members of the Murphy family and why weren't people truly shocked/confused by his magical ability? I wasn't convinced that this was a world where his ability and people's reaction to it was real. This didn't feel like a different universe to our own unlike The Lobster. Maybe the director thought if his characters just talk in a weird monotone way like in his other movies then people would accept that the world that the characters are living in is a world where Martin's magic can happen. Sorry, didn't believe it remotely. Also, the monotone comedic way people spoke totally undermined the director's aim to scare or thrill the audience. If he had them speak normally then people would have engaged with the characters in a way where they could feel for them in a more serious way. That style of dialogue delivery worked in 'The Lobster', because that film was very clearly a surreal comedy in a different universe to our own. To summarize, in my opinion the director's style and ideas work really well in comedy, but not in films that you are meant to take even remotely seriously like this one.

By far possibly the worst film I have ever watched.save yourself the trouble and do not watch under any circumstance. Farrel and kidman must regret ever being part of this tripe.how anyone can give it any more than one star is beyond me.acting is possibly the worst I have ever witnessed in a film.absolut shite.

One of those pretentious movies that try to be sophisticated but just end up being boring and pointless. Don't waste time and money on this.
