About this movie

In the action-comedy The Interview, Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen) run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show 'Skylark Tonight.' When they discover that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the most unlikely candidates, to 'take out' Kim Jong-un.

I bought the movie not because I expected brilliance of writing, acting or dialog. There's nothing here that will be nominated for awards of any type. The movie itself is a total bit of crap that I wouldn't have bothered with, even after it gets to Netflix in a year or so. I watched the first 6 minutes, then hit stop. Really. It is that bad. That said, I bought and paid for this and will rate it 5 stars simply because it is important for us as individuals and a nation to never accept intimidation and bullying from anyone as an excuse to self-censor ourselves. I've read through how Sony totally caved at first provocation on this movie. I've read how indie theatre chains motivated them to get some balls to put this out there. I've been in sorrow that our indie leader here in Seattle (SIFF) decided to just to wuss on this and go "hey, were on the holiday...here's an auto-responder message until way after the first" when they had capacity to step up and present this on multiple airings at the Egyptian, the Uptown and elsewhere. I've volunteered for them in the past: I'll be reconsidering that relationship in the future: Mary Bacarella! Buy this now!

I'm a huge fan of Rogan and Franco's past movies but....this movie was trying way to hard to be funny. I had maybe a handful of laughs out of this whole film. I almost laughed a handful and then managed a grin here and there. This movie made "Your Highness" seem super funny. I'm even more mad at the supposed terrorist for not warning me that this movie wasn't funny. All you people who think your helping freedom by buying this, donate that money to a worthy cause or flush it down the toilet.

I personally don't believe there was ever any threats made by N. Korea. I think it was all a propaganda ploy by studios to get people to watch this cinematic garbage. Rogen couldnt act his way out of a paper bag, and Franco is so doped up hed say yes to any opportunity to put his face on screen. Only a low functioning liberal retard would give this movie anything but one star.
