About this movie

In this subversive satire, a group of elites gather for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt ordinary Americans for sport. But the elites' master plan is about to be derailed because one of The Hunted, Crystal (Betty Gilpin, GLOW), knows The Hunters' game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off one by one as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman (two-time Oscar® winner Hilary Swank) at the center of it all.

Gilpin is great. The action is good. If it was just Gilpin swearing and killing people in a survival thriller, it would be pretty good. But all the social commentary satire was more depressing than clever or funny, especially watching after the Jan 6 attack knowing how much harm believing conspiracy theories can do, so that takes a lot of the fun out of the movie.

The first time watching this, I found the vilification of middle-lower class America just hit a little too close to home because it was actually happening at the time. The second watch showed this film to be an intelligent and at times hilarious work of satire. I thought it portrayed arrogant elitist liberals exactly as they are and portrayed middle-lower class Americans exactly as arrogant liberals think they are. Well done. Strong and witty performance from the female lead.

Price dropped decided to buy the film and I liked it. Over the top violence sure but what do you expect in a movie about people hunting other people ? Kind of reminds me of Kill Bill, the hero kind slowing goes about taking out people who have been hunting her. You never really understand her background but you do get hints through the movie. Good movie not perfect but if you are willing to dismiss logic, if over the top violence is not a big turn off I do recommend watching it.
