Heartbreaking, touching, maddening, satisfying. The journey that the two chefs take in this story vastly transcends the "chef movie". Superb acting from the principles and supporting cast. I rewatch this every few months and it still touches me.

I didn't know the subtleties of French cuisine can be spiced up before now. A good take on how cooking shouldn't be limited to what it's always been and should be experimented with for the better. Very good performances from the actors. Haven't read the book yet, but I believe it'll be a fantastic read

The characters are compelling and well-written, responding to their circumstances in a way you can see them as real people doing, like other Lasse Halston movies. This movie could well paired with "Chocolat" and/or "Ratatouille," even though the latter is a cartoon. Even without the love stories, the movie is gorgeously romantic in its portrayal of the emotionally evocative aspects of culinary art.
