I had heard about this a long time ago, but wasn't sure I wanted to watch it. However, it turned up in a list of notable scifi films... actually in a couple of lists like that. So I thought I would check it out. Glad I did. This is an excellent film. Just really well done. It did run a little bit long for me. But overall this was more than worthwhile. Beautifully made, great characters.

I am Korean and I gotta tell you guys that this movie is great but it must be hard for foreigners to understand the sarcasms, satires & the meaning of this movie. It is not made to scare ppl. It is a political movie that tells you how korean government is corrupted. It is criticizing the incompetence of the government when the citizens are in trouble. The bureaus do not work for their citizens in Korea. They work for their bank account balance.

Its weird little mis of diaster, kaiju, and family. It has a little of everything and no single member of the family is out shined. The pace is a bit slow, but it does it quite well. I really enjoyed it. Fair warning though, it will punch you in the feels.
