The Greatest Showman

I hadn't been to the cinema in a few years, and was tired after a long day working, so my enthusiasm levels were rather low, to match my general mood, on the day I went to see this movie. Around two hours later, I emerged from the cinema totally moved, with tears in my eyes and goose-bumps all over, feeling incredibly humbled yet more positive than I had felt in a long time. The film may have a few shortfalls, and may not be perfect, and may perhaps not suit everyone. However, the combination of the outstanding visuals, meaningful songs and messages, and a feel-good romantic/friendships themed plotline completely overwhelms any imperfections. Having not realised Hugh Jackman was such an artist, I was rather pleasantly surprised at his leading character's convincing role. I also thought that Zac Efron's brilliant performance was most worthy of recognition, as it was a refreshing step away from some of his other previous roles in films. In today's greedy modern world, we all are guilty of chasing a richer, more materialistic life that promises the ultimate happiness. This film provides a stark reminder that happiness and fulfilment may be closer and simpler than we imagined.

Amazing. Just amazing. I first went to see this film in February, and immediately fell in love with how fantastic the film, cast and soundtrack was. I recently got the DVD for my birthday and cannot tell you how many times I have watched it since. The Sing-A-Long edition is great as well. The soundtrack is beyond amazing. If you don't have it yet, buy it as soon as you can, or at least listen to it on Spotify, SoundCloud or YouTube. And if you haven't heard 'This Is Me' yet, what are you doing with your life? They're all great though, and 'The Greatest Show', 'The Other Side', 'Rewrite the Stars' and 'From Now On' are worth a listen as well. This is the one thing that annoys me. People are disliking the film because it was 'historically inaccurate'. The film is INSPIRED by a true story but majority of the events in the film are made up. Don't let them bad reviews put you off. You may have heard that Barnum was a bad man and did awful things to his circus performers. Even though that is true, that is not shown in the film as Barnum is portrayed as a nice guy. Because it is INSPIRED by a true story. But overall it's a spectacular film, you should watch it as soon as you can!

The Greatest Showman was such a terrific movie with brilliant performances from the cast including Keala Settle and Hugh Jackman. The movie's songs will get stuck in your head for a very long time and this movie was in fact a treat to watch. The film's message that no one should hide away cos of who they are actually really touched me and made me sympathetic to everyone who are afraid to let out who they are. Also the scenery of the Victorian era was really spot on and it showed us how some people lived in that era. I also liked that it showed us how people protested in them days and how it could result in violence. However I was a bit disappointed that Rebecca Ferguson didn't sing and that she had to mime her singing even though she was brilliant when she wasn't singing. Also the makers really overused CGI and it felt liked they could of done most the film without it and make it more real. Some of the directing scenes were nicely done (e.g. when Barnum and Philip were in the pub drinking and then the scene turned to them in the circus). Anyway, though the film isn't all true, The Greatest Showman is a fantastic movie with outstanding vocal and acting performances so if u want to feel good and enjoy yourselves then go and watch The Greatest Showman over and over again!
