About this movie

When an unannounced, uninvited and unwelcome family of fun-loving misfits converge upon a lakeside resort to join their relatives for a summer of relaxation, the result is anything but restful in this raucous comedy starring Dan Aykroyd and John Candy. It's a vacationer's worst nightmare, as wheeler-dealer Aykroyd, his sexually repressed wife and eerie twin daughters 'join' the easygoing Candy and his straight-laced clan for a season of 'fun' in the sun. Unfortunately, the only thing these two in-laws have in common is their intense dislike for each other. Soon, it's brother-in-law against brother-in-law in an uproarious and hilarious fight to the finish to see which one really knows how to enjoy The Great Outdoors.

I'm not gonna lie, I always thought that movies from the 1980s are the best, but THIS film is actually & definitely the worst. The acting & dialogue for this movie is mediocre to awful, It's a very unfunny movie, it barely has a positive message about families, the music score by Thomas Newman is dippy and annoying. The premise for this film is that all that this movie can do is to show people that nature's animals is controlled & can also entertain an idiot. & worst of them all: it has no idea who or what it's audience is. When you go see a comedy movie that's rated PG you expected it to be a family-friendly film/for kids and families, right? WRONG! This movie has strong language, inappropireate sex, & it has adult themes! This movie is also one of the stupidest movies ever! It almost insulted my intelligence. Once & for all, I REFUSE to publicize & recommend it!

This movie was onr of my all time favorites! It had everything a good Johm Candy film should have. Tue onlu thing that I didn't like a out this movie, and its small, was the needless scenes of 80's clichè teenage romance that shoeharned into this movie. It could have done without it. Dan Aykroyd's performance in this film was 5 stars on its own! Its just a great movie over all. The bald bear story tied into this movie is worth the 💰 alone!

Well it starts out a family invades what appears to be the start of a good vacation however Chester ( John Candy) has the heart to salvage his vacation in spite of the invasion the best he can considering the circumstances. When Roman confesses to Chester finally it is cathartic. Of course the Bald-headed bear puts in an appearance and the 2 families are saved by an unheralded hero. It's a John Candy movie and is worth buying. He was and still is very popular. Hats off to John Candy!!
