The book was set in London.. the train was boring boring British packed commuter-land and that's a key point coz the whole thing is about British suburbia. The movie doesn't really work in suburban New York coz it's too pretty. Typical American corruption of an otherwise superb story... obviously the screen writer struggled with reading. Should return his fee.

Emily Blount brilliant. Haley Bennet's hot. And who knew Justin Theroux could be so menacing. Tate Taylor's mastery of directing mis-direction is a joy to watch and a nod to Alfred H. Sure the setting changed but it worked. Worth watching and much better than Carol, Inferno and Florence Foster Jenkins which are all worthy of being tagged duds.

This was a bit disappointing for me and I'm glad I didn't see in the cinema. Cast was good and Emily's performance was impressive and convincing but I just found the movie too slow, long and drawn out. A scene or two that I found moving (the baby in bath) but I wouldn't watch this again. Rather too dark for me as well.
