About this movie

Academy Award nominee Mark Wahlberg delivers a career-defining performance as Jim Bennett, a brilliant professor leading a secret double life as a high-stakes gambler. When Jim is forced to borrow money from dangerous gangsters, he places the lives of those he loves in mortal danger. With time running out, he must enter the criminal underworld and risk everything to keep from losing it all. John Goodman, Brie Larson and Academy Award-winner Jessica Lange star in the thrilling film critics are calling "gritty, intense and wholly engrossing." *Scott Mantz, Access Hollywood

This movie is very bad sorry to say, I got very dissapointed. In the commercial you see guns and hitting. Well that's only to get you intrested in the movie. There is only like one 30 sec. Scene with guns, and like two scenes where Mark Wahlberg gets hit. Honestly if you watch this for action do not see it, if you are looking for a bad drama go ahead. The only good part was Mark Wahlberg and his acting also the ending

I fell to sleep on this movie three times. Plz actors and actresses stop wasting our money, because you need a few dollars, better yet stop wasting everyone's time including yours. Now I'm afraid to spend money on your next movie, that you headline.Thank God I didn't pay this go around.

Characters can take us places that we've never been, while caricatures are an exaggerated reminder of places we've already seen. Wahlberg's portrait of Jim Bennett is nothing more than a ridiculous distortion. I wanted to like it, but the philosophical gimmicks kept getting in the way. Wardrobe is cool and the score is great, so there's that.
