No, it's not critically acclaimed. Yes, it has its ups and downs. But I reckon it's a good, fun "scary" movie with a bit of heart.

Please do add the english subtitle and make it available so my hearing-impaired relatives can also enjoy it, I'll add more stars once you guys've done that. Thanks in advance.

Do not just rent. Do not just buy the 1996 version. Buy the 2005.12.14 uncut “peter jackson director cut” for the 17 deleted scenes.
