About this movie

In the tradition of Braveheart and The English Patient comes this lavish screen epic that combines thrilling adventure, soaring romance and rousing battle sequences. Heath Ledger stars as Harry Feversham, a British soldier with a golden future - until he inexplicably resigns from his regiment. Harry is branded a coward, disowned by his family, his beautiful fiancee (Kate Hudson) and his best friend (Wes Bentley). Heartbroken and abandoned, Harry receives news that his regiment has been brutally attacked by Sundanese rebels. Suddenly Harry's course becomes clear and he sets out on an unforgettable journey of redemption - to regain his honor, recapture his love, and save the lives of his comrades. This film is Rated PG-13 for intense battle sequences, disturbing images, violence and some sensuality.

This is by far one of my favorite Heath Ledger films ever made. I know it's been 18 years since its release, but I don't remember much hype around the film. It was a sleeper I remember watching on pay per view. Heath was one of my favorite actors growing up, he's definitely missed. This film is filled with emotion of all kinds, love, dishonor, honor, courage, friendship, brotherhood, betrayal. The cast is wonderful. The film draws you in from the very beginning and doesn't let go until the end.

I often wonder if the reviewers at RT have actually seen the films they rate poorly.
