About this movie

When Max (Taissa Farmiga) and her friends reluctantly attend a screening of “Camp Bloodbath,” an infamous ‘80s cult horror film that starred Max’s late mother (Malin Akerman), they are accidentally sucked into the silver screen. They soon realize they’re trapped inside the movie and must team up with the horny, Reagan-era idiot “Camp bloodbath” counselors – including Max’s mom as the shy scream queen – to battle the film’s machete-wielding killer Billy Murphy. Face to face with her mother for the first time in years, Max has a second chance not only to see her, but to save her, and with the help of her friends, get back home before Billy kills them all. Also starring Adam DeVine, Thomas Middleditch, Alia Shawkat, Angela Trimbur, with Alexander Ludwig and Nina Dobrev.

Adam Devine played such a funny character. It was a good movie that had potential to be great. It had some really funny moments during the first half but it kind of got a little heavy in the second half with the mother daughter scenes. We get it, youre with your dead mother and it's very eerie and emotional. Not enough humor in the second half, it kind of dropped the ball on that

Props to them for the great 80s references and upholding underlying horror themes (sex, death, rebirth, grow up, life goes on) ...but it's awfully heavy on the comedy/drama and less on horror, which honestly made it seem like Disney Channel horror. Seems like it's more of a "family film" for 10+ rather than a horror film.

This is a cool idea for a movie. I think a few opportunities were probably missed, but good all in all. Fans of campground slashers like Friday the 13th will probably dig it.
